PROSPECT RANKINGS

TOP 32 MINOR LEAGUE PLAYER RANKINGS

Robert E. McCabe Magazine and MLB.com combined to publish the first McCabe League prospect rankings. The top prospect in all of baseball is Tampa Bay’s Quilvio Mendez . This 20 year-old is currently assigned to the Rays High-A club where he is batting 409 with 10 Home Runs in 15 Games. The scouts we spoke to say Mendez will win a batting title and a Home Run Crown before his career is over. Next on our list is the best setup pitcher in minor league ball, Yamid Zapata of the Atlanta Braves. He is an International Free Agent with a major league sinker and a nasty curve. Look for this projected closer to spend a very short time in AA. Rounding out the top three prospects on our board is another Tampa Bay minor leaguer in Shea Joseph. A first round selection, third (3) overall in season fourteen can play all infield and all outfield positions. Scouts project him as an ironman, playing all 162 games yearly, he’ll hit for power and average.

McCabe Magazine Owner of the Year Standings

Owner/Organization Power Rankings

McCabe Magazine has posted below its Owner/Organization Power Rankings. The owner with the highest winning percentage at every level at the end of the regular season will receive the McCabe Magazine Owner of the Year Award. We here at McCabe Magazine feel that a good owner should maintain a solid farm system and a winning major league ball team. His big club should be in position to win the division and one or more of the lower level squads should be in position to capture a minor league World Series title. The Owner of the Year should field competitive teams at every level.

The Power Rankings are a combine total of each teams (RL, Low A, High A, AA, AAA, ML) winning percentage.

MID-SUMMER AWARDS Season 17

Las Vegas, NV (McC) With the season at the halfway point McCabe Magazine announces its mid-season awards. After considering several candidates for the mid-summer MVP we here at McCabe have selected Philip Priest  (34 HR, 88 RBI, 389 BA) of the Colorado Rockies as the league’s Most Valuable Player. Dicky Wilkerson  (38 HR, 98 RBI, 297 BA) of the New York Mets was a very strong second in voting among our editors and major league bloggers. However, the batting averages 389 to 297, OBP 446 to 373, and SLG 864 to 628 were the tie breaker among crack staff.

The Outstanding Pitching award goes to Asdrubal Pelaez  (15-6, ERA 1.96) of the San Diego Padres. Pelaez is on pace to break Vince Garcia  single season (16) record 26 wins. He leads the league with a 0.88 WHIP and 192 OVA. Our Fireman of the mid-summer is Cedrick Hollins  (30 saves, 1.25 ERA). Hollins is a five time All-Star with a 0.92 WHIP.

Before we get accused of turning the mid-summer awards into the NL West individual awards let’s move on to the ALL-PRO Team.
