McCabe Magazine's All-Pro Team and Awards
Cincinnati, OH (McC.com) Its that time of year when we here at McCabe Magazine take a look at season 25 and select the players who are the best of the best at their respected positions. Here is the Robert E. McCabe Magazine's All-Pro squad and season awards.
McCabe Magazine’s Season 25 MVP
Our season 25 Most Valuable Player
is Darrel Davies (1B/DH)
of the Washington Nationals. Davies (36 HR, 103 RBI, 347 BA) our season 24 Rookie of the Year, and the
Nationals have dominated the American League East and has run away with the
division title with a 28 game lead with 13 games left in the season. He is 2nd
in the majors with a 347 BA and 2nd in OPS 1.036. First in both categories
is Colorado's Hersh Mays (42
HR, 110 RBI, 376 BA, 1.169 OPS). Why you may ask didn't
we crown Mays our MVP?
Here are the facts. It’s Coors Field and the Mile High effect. It’s not only
hurting Mays in our opinion, but all the players on the Rockies have inflated
stats due to the effects of a baseball at high altitudes.
Here is some analytics we used to separate the
players. The one telling stat is home and away. When we checked the home run
leaders in the majors, we found four (4) Rockies in the top 10. However, when
we looked at the home run leaders (away) hit on the road, we only found two
Rockies in the top 25, Luis Mesa (COL) ranked 11th with 21 road dingers, and Johnny Diaz (COL) at 24 with 17. In home BA the Rockies had 8 players in the top 25, with only one (1) Colorado player in
the top 25 away BA rankings. That one player is Renyel Jimenez (COL) listed at 25. By no means do we want
to diminish the accomplishments of these players, after all they do lead the
best division in baseball, we are just explaining our reasoning for our MVP
selection. For more information, please see “The Physics of Baseball” by Alan
M. Nathan, University of Illinois.
MVP Honorable Mention; Hersh Mays, Alexei DaSilva (TOR) 51 HR, 110 RBI, 277 BA, 909 OPS, Marcell Soler (OAK) 45 HR, 124 RBI, 300 BA, 912 OPS, and Desi Cruz (TOR) 45 HR, 111 RBI, 336 BA, 1.012 OPS.

OVA, 0.86 WHIP, 1.59 ERA) is the most dominating pitcher since Luther Abercrombie retired after season 23.
