Colorado Springs, CO (McC.COM) – Welcome to season 31 and to
McCabe Magazines season preview issue. We would also like to welcome the four
new owners, bballer2117 (Houston Astro’s), tomcecil (New York Yankees),
bbwinksdaddy (Cleveland Indians), and mikemiele (Chicago Cubs) to the best
baseball league and owners on the whatifsports website, welcome aboard.
The World Champions
After examining all of the baseball rosters, organizations,
and speaking with several baseball insider’s and front office personnel we are
going to peg the Houston Astro’s as season 31 World Series Champions. The
season 31 World Series will be a rematch of last year’s fall classic. However,
this year we see the Astros getting their revenge and knocking off the Richmond
Virginians the defending champions, four games to three. The Astros have played
for the American League pennant five consecutive years and this year they will
get their payoff, winning it all for the second time in five years. They beat
The San Diego Padres in season 26 to capture their first world title. The best
team from top to bottom in the American League is the boys from south Texas.
This club features five All-Stars; Lastings O'Brien (P), Blake Henson (C), Magglio Palacios (1B), Richie Brush (3B), Alex Salas (CF), three gold glove award winners
Wilin Diaz (2B), Palacios (1B), Salas (CF) and
one Silver Sluggers Pascual Fuentes (LF). Their biggest threat for
the Astros in the American League will come from the Washington Nationals;
however the Nationals will fall short of winning their 2nd world championship
in three years.
Last year the Virginians bolted from the wildcard fifth seed
to win its second championship in team history, four games to three over the
Astro’s. They feature three all stars Bengie Encarnacion (P), Burke Diggins (C), Luis Eovaldi (SS) and one Silver Slugger award
winner Eovaldi (SS). Although they are clearly the best team in the National
League we feel they don’t have the horses to compete with the Astros or the
Nationals if they advanced to the World Series.
The Playoff Picture
In the American League the Astros will beat Washington for
the American League pennant, and in the senior circuit the Virginians will handle
the New York Mets to win their second consecutive National League pennant and
third overall. The division winners in the American League will be the
Minnesota Twins, Washington Nationals, the Astro’s, and the San Francisco
Giants. In the National League the titleholders will be the Cleveland Indians,
the New York Mets, Richmond Virginians, and the San Diego Padres. The wildcard
winners will be the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Cincinnati Reds, and
the Atlanta Braves.
We look forward to another exciting season, enjoy, and good
luck to all.
