A LOOK AT THE SEASON 36 PLAYOFFS
Cincinnati, Ohio (McC.com) – Welcome to another issue of the
world renowned and critically acclaimed McCabe Magazine. We are the only
publication in America with a columnist/author with 3 Nobel Prize awards in
Literature and a winner of the KONS International Literary Award, Mr. Sam “no
spell check” Willie. For those of you who question these outstanding
accomplishments, McCabe Magazine will happily email you a copy of Mr. Sam Willies
resume which documents each award with dates and times of the presentations. To
confirm the authenticity of the hand written resume, we here at McCabe had the
resume sent to an FBI hand writing specialist who verified the resume was in
fact written by Sam. The framed resume is presently on displace in the main
lobby at the McCabe offices here in Cincinnati.
With the regular season quickly coming to its conclusion we
wanted our award winning writers and editors to take a look at the divisional
races and the playoff picture.
DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME
American League North
In the American League North we pegged the Milwaukee Brewers
as our pick to win the Division in our season 36 preview issue. With 23 games
left in the season and a 4 and 5 game lead over Toronto and Chicago it should
be a good bet that the Brewers will hold onto that slim lead and win its third
consecutive division crown.
Player to watch; Kid Richard (P) 23-4, 1.16 WHIP, 2.44 ERA
Note; the entire division is struggling down the stretch
with a combine 16-27 record over the last 10 games.
American League East
American League East belongs to the Washington Nationals.
They are in position to capture their 12th consecutive division
title and their 4th consecutive World Series Championship, a feat
that has never been done in Major League baseball history. Picking the
Nationals to win the AL East is like picking the low hanging fruit. However,
what our readers should be impressed about is the exact order of finish we
predicted in our preview issue.
Player to watch; Darrel Davies (1B) 36 HR, 106 RBI, 328 BA, 992
OPS
Note; Boston, New York, and Baltimore all are under .500
American League South
Our preseason selection of the St. Louis Cardinals is
presently 21 games behind division leader Kansas City Royals. You don’t have to
look to far to see why the Royals are in first, they currently have a division
record of 16-5, Cardinals 12-9, Houston 8-13, and the Rangers 6-15.
Player to watch; Wilkin Lopez 39 HR, 125 RBI, 319 BA, 1.022 OPS
Note; St. Louis major injury Louie Albaladejo (P) 7-3, 1.10 WHIP, 2.65 ERA
American League West
The Oakland A’s, Anaheim Angels and the Los Angeles Dodgers
are in battle to the end. As of 6/13 AM games, the Angels are on a 4 game
winning streak have closed the gap to 1 game and the Dodgers, also on a 4 game
streak are just 4 back of division leader Oakland. The winner of this division
will make the playoffs, and 2nd and 3rd will be at home
watching.
Note; No wildcard for the runner up
National League North
Chicago is in firm control of the NL North with 23 games to
go. We had predicted Cleveland winning the division in our season 36 preview,
and it looks like they will not only not win the division, but miss out on a
playoff berth. They are at the moment 9 games back in the Wildcard Division.
Player to watch; Jackie Waterson (CH1) 51 HR, 123 RBIs, 291 BA, 23-3 SB. 981
OPS
Note; The Cubs have a team ERA of 4.28 which will make a
short season 36 playoff run.
National League East
Philadelphia our preseason selection to win the division, is
well on their way to winning the National League East with a 17 game lead over
the second place Mets, and a whopping 27 game lead over the third place team,
the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Players to watch; Whitey Corino (PHI) 16-8, 1.15 WHIP, 2.93 ERA, Shawon Mathews (PHI) 40 HR, 109 RBIs, 299 BA
Note; The Mets have a 3 game lead over the Colorado Rockies
in the Wildcard Division.
National League South
Our preseason prediction of Richmond winning the division is
not looking good at this juncture of the season; however our selection of the
Florida Marlins battling the Seattle Mariners for the NL pennant is looking
like an excellent choice.
Note; Florida and Richmond are tied for third place in the major leagues with 187 team stolen bases, behind Seattle (207) and Kansas City (203).
Note; Wildcard Standings Mets, Rockies,
Diamondbacks, Richmond, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh.

The "Robert E. McCabe League" was established in memory of my Dad, who died in 1986, at the age of 59. He was a very special guy, and my best man at my wedding. He served in World War II, and was a Milwaukee Braves fan, with Warren Spahn his favorite player. I met Warren and had him autograph a ball for my Dad. My Dad once told me "Joe Dimaggio was so graceful, I would have bought a ticket just to watch him run out to center field" From our commissioner; Patrick (pat007ohmss) League Founder
