McCabe Magazine All-Pro Team and Season 23 Awards
Houston, TX (McC.com) – It’s that time of year when we here
at McCabe Magazine take a look at season 23 and select the players who we feel
are the best of the best. Here is the McCabe Magazine All-Pro squad and season awards.
Our MVP
Desi Cruz (1B/DH) of the Toronto Blue Jays
is our MVP. Cruz led the entire league, American and National with a .347
batting average. He has 52 home runs and 115 RBIs, and help lead the Blue Jays
to their sixth division title in a row. Now I know a lot of you are saying what
about
Calvin Pote, Chicago Cubs who is leading the
league with in home runs (62) and RBIs (150)? And how about fellow teammate
Alexei DaSilva (60 home runs, 127 RBI)? Our
answer to those questions is simply this, 347 BA and the season 23 batting
title. Enough said, and I rest my case.
McCabe Magazine Cy Young
Adam Bradford of the Anaheim Angels is
McCabe Magazines Cy Young award winner. This season 22 rookie of the year won
20 games with a 2.70 ERA, and a league leading 1.00 Whip. Bradford and the
Angels pitching staff are second only to the boundless San Diego Padre staff (3.43
ERA) in team ERA with a 3.52. Others receiving consideration for this award,
Wandy Duran, San Diego (22-8, 1.22 Whip, 3.38
ERA),
Kid Richard, Los Angeles Dodgers (19-3, 1.06
Whip, 2.36 ERA), and
Vince Garcia Anaheim (17-10, 1.03 Whip,
2.04 ERA).
Rookie of the Year
Storm Weaver, Rochester Broncos (24 HR, 71 RBI,
307 BA) is our choice as the McCabe Magazine Rookie of the Year. Now this was
our toughness call, it came down to Weaver and
Eury Banuelos (OAK) 25 HR, 69 RBI, and 325 BA. The tie
breaker was games played, Weaver 152 and Banuelos 113 at the time of printing.
However, I must admit, I’m still thinking about the decision. I would also like
to mention a rookie that jump off the stat page that has a unbelievable 92
stolen bases,
Anthony Wolcott of the Philadelphia
Phillies.
Fireman of the Year
Trevor Sample (OAK) 47 saves on 50 opportunities, (1-1,
1.02 Whip, 2.06 ERA). This screwball pitcher became the Athletics closer in
season 22 and was quickly awarded a 6 year deal at 36 million dollars which has
proved to be a smart move by the club. Honorable mention,
Pedro Manuel (SD) 49 saves, 1.16 Whip, 3.09 ERA,
Scot Kane (KC) 39 saves 1.19 Whip, 2.37 ERA,
Harry Escobar (TEX) 38 saves, 1.01 Whip, 1.65 ERA, and
Arthur Roa (MIL) 37 saves, 0.92 Whip, 1.91.
