FLIP GIBSON THE HITTING STREAK
STAT of the DAY
Denver, CO (McC.com) – Today we wanted to take a look at Colorado
Rookies Flip Gibson (LF), a career 296 hitter is on the verge of
breaking one of the most hallowed records in baseball, the major league hitting
streak of 35 games set by Bennie Carr, of Colorado during season 10. Gibson
has hit in 30 consecutive games, which is five games off the all-time hit streak
record. The 30 game hit streak is every game the Rockies have played this
season. He is currently sporting a 395 Batting Average which is third in the
majors behind Bartolo Hernandez (ARI) 449 BA, and Luke Hudson (RIC) 409 BA. Hernandez is currently on a 5
game streak with a season high of 19, and Hudson is also on a 5 game streak
with a high of 17 games. Gibson hit 40 HR 115 RBI 322 BA in season 32, 49 HR
122 RBI 302 BA in season 33, and only played in 75 games in season 34 due to a
foot injury while batting 331, and oddly has never been selected to an
All-Star. At this present pace we look for Gibson to make his first All-Star
game this season, and although it’s very early in the season we here at McCabe
Magazine have him on our short list for MVP.
