SEASON 17 OWNER of THE YEAR

Owner/Organization Award

Listed below you will find the McCabe Magazine Owner/Organization of the Year Winner and our Owner Power Rankings. The owner with the highest winning percentage at every level at the end of the regular season will receive the McCabe Magazine Owner of the Year Award. We here at McCabe Magazine feel that a good owner should maintain a solid farm system and a winning major league ball team. His big club should be in position to win the division and one or more of the lower level squads should be in position to capture a minor league World Series title. The Owner of the Year should field competitive teams at every level.

The Power Rankings are a combine total of each teams (RL, Low A, High A, AA, AAA, ML) winning percentage.

And for the third year in a row our Owner/Organization of the Year award goes to:  patrickkm and the Detroit Tigers.

DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME

THE GREAT RACE                                                                                 Stan Musial: (1920-2013)

Las Vegas, NV (McM) And down the stretch they come. We have tight races in the America League North, East, and Wildcard. In the National League the races to watch are the East, South, and Wildcard. The only thing in question regarding the NL West is can all four teams win 90 plus. Now that would be the stat of the year.

In the AL North Milwaukee and Minnesota are tied with 3 to play, followed by Toronto (1GB). In the East we see the defending champion Boston one game behind Baltimore, last year’s divisional runner-up. Last year’s American League champion Kansas City is dominating the south division with an 18 game lead and 3 to play. It looks like the San Francisco Giants have locked up the number 1 seed with 103 wins. The Wildcard has Minnesota and Milwaukee setting the pace followed by Toronto (1 GB) and Oakland (3GB). The Athletics are on the verge of missing the playoffs for the second year in a row after winning the World Series in season 15.

Looking at the National League we find the Detroit Tigers with a 6 game lead with 3 to play, wrapping up their third straight division title. In the East New York is leading the division by one game over Rochester followed by the Pirates 3 games back. In the south there’s a big log jam with Tampa Bay and Richmond leading Atlanta by one game. We will also like to note, the winner of this division could have 69 wins and 93 lost. So maybe it’s not a log jam, it’s just a jam, a little jam, very little jam, not even enough for a cracker. The San Diego Padres (102 wins) win the West and the number 1 seed. Two other western division clubs, Arizona and Colorado have sealed playoff berths with 94 wins each.

This has been a very exciting season and it’s not over yet. Great races to the finish, good luck to all from the staff here at McCabe Magazine.
