SEASON 25 PREDICTIONS

THE ANAHEIM ANGELS WINS IT ALL

The Angels knockoff the San Diego Padres in 5 games to win Season 25 World Series

Houston, TX (McC) Before we unveil our season 25 predictions we here at McCabe Magazine would like to express our disappointment and sadness with the Hall of Fame voters who didn't elect Bronson Whang, the all-time HIT KING to this year’s class of the HOF. This is a major injustice based on rumor, innuendo, and the misinformed. Whang has a total of 3,048 major league hits, the most in the history of the Robert E. McCabe league. He received 13 votes which is 40% of the eligible voters, this is a travesty of justice. As a sign of protest I will not be voting next year on the Hall of Fame candidates. I have given my vote to the website Deadspin.

The season forecast

Now that we have gotten that bit of frustration off our chest, let’s move on and reveal this season’s winners and losers. The team that is loaded from top to bottom, and should walk away with the World Series title in 5 games over the San Diego Padres is the Anaheim Angels.
The Angels finish season 24 with 111 wins, which was the best in the majors, they were also first in the American league in team ERA (3.28), and second in the majors behind the Padres (3.11). The strength of Anaheim is it’s pitching staff, featuring future Hall of Famer  Vince Garcia (R) (23-7, 2.40 ERA), Garcia should be voted into the HOF on the first ballot, however with this current HOF voting committee that statement might be in question. Other notables on the staff is Adam Bradford (R) (18-3, 2.56 ERA), Shea Cross (S) (19-3, 2.15 ERA) and the best setup man in baseball the past 10 years Juan Azocar (L) (86 games, 12-8, 2.37 ERA). The big bats in the lineup are Geraldo Belliard (25 HR, 112 RBI, 317 BA), and Zeke Harding (20 HR, 92 RBI, 308 BA).  We look for the Angels to win 105 games and cruise to its 3rd World Series Championship in team history.

The San Diego Padres have won the National League West division 7 of the last 8 years, averaging 104 wins during that 8 year span. They have won 7 NL Pennants and 4 World Series Championships. And just like the Angels the San Diego Padres pitching staff is the reason for the team’s success.  The Padres pitching staff have been the most dominant staff the past 6 years, leading major league baseball in team ERA every year since season 19.  Starting pitcher and 3 time CY Young award winner Asdrubal Pelaez (20-8, 2.69 ERA) is the ace of the staff, followed by Vin Tejera (16-8, 2.80), and last year’s Fireman of the Year Pedro Manuel (48 saves, 2.30 ERA). San Diego has high hopes for number 4 starter Troy Campbell (11 games, 2.04 ERA in season 24). Campbell, a 1st round draft pick in season 15 is replacing Chris Breen (18-11, 2.90 ERA) who left via Free-Agency. However, we feel the weakest of the Padres will be their offensive production, we just don’t see a stick in the lineup that will put fear in the opposing pitching staffs.

The Playoffs

McCabe Magazines official predictions, as mentioned earlier we like the Angels to beat the Padres in 5 games to win the World Series. The American League division winners will be the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, and the Angels. In the National League it will be the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres. The Wildcard teams Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals, Detroit Tigers, and the Colorado Rockies.
