Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies Roster Comparison

Our World Series choices come down to two teams, the Philadelphia Phillies and our team of the decade (seasons 30-39) the Seattle Mariners. We really struggled to find another team with a roster better than the back-to-back champions. This eight (8) time National League West Division title holder placed five (5) players on last year’s All-Star Squad. Those players are pitchers Charlie Graves (S36 Fireman of the Year), Victor Diaz (S36 ROY), Don Swann (S38 Cy Young award winner), first-basemen Junior Meng (S33 MVP), and third-basemen  Trace Garvin (S37 ROY). This team is loaded from top to bottom and will compete for world championships for seasons to come. However, our choice to unseat the Mariners this season is the Philadelphia Phillies, who placed eight (8) players on last season’s All-Star Team. Phillies All-Stars; pitchers Karim Espinosa (16-3, 1.15 Whip), Wily Guzman (16-11) Cristian Ryu (S36, S37, S38 Fireman of the Year) catcher Juan Beltre (38 HR 120 RBI 291 BA, 5 time Sliver Slugger C), first-basemen Shawon Mathews (S34 S37 MVP), 2B Lyle Jordan (35 HR 123 RBI 4 time All-Star) LF Willie Payne (162 games 26 HR 315 BA 39 SB) and RF Davey Parker (30 HR 129 RBI 317 BA, All-Star game MVP). After looking at this team’s roster and playoff record we were shocked and surprise at the talent this franchise as amass. Philadelphia has advance to the National League Championship Series (NLCS) every year since S34 going 2-3 during that five year span. They won the NL pennant in season’s 35 and 36, losing the World Series to the Washington Nationals (S35) and Milwaukee Brewers (36). Take it to the bank; the Phillies will win their second Robert E. McCabe trophy in team history, their first since a 4-2 series win over the St. Louis Cardinals in season 2.

Season 39 Philadelphia 4 games to 3 over the Toronto Blue Jays

Here are our season 39 predictions; the Phillies will win the World Series by winning a seven (7) game series over the Blues Jays. In the National League Championship Series rematch the Phillies will come out on top with a 4-2 win over the defending champion Seattle. The Blue Jays will knock off the Boston Red Sox 4-1 in the ALCS. McCabe Magazine AL Division winners will be the Blue Jays, Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the NL the Division winners will be the Phillies, Mariners, Chicago Cubs, and the Richmond Virginians. Our wildcards teams are the Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
